Detroit-born Beverly Ratliff was singing in church choir by age ten.
This experience led her to perform in various projects including Jim White's Motown Review Show
and appear on local television shows The Scene and Stars of Tomorrow. Beverly's vocal
talents helped earn her third place in the 1981 Michigan Miss Black America beauty pageant.
She then worked with the group Classic and later Rhonda Clark who is associated with
Jimmy Jam, Terry Lewis and Bootsy Collins. Influenced by Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Aretha
Franklin, Beverly's sassy, soulful and funky vocal stylings add a dynamic energy to the Blue Rose sound. |
